Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton have chosen three of his favorite hymns for their wedding day they want to pay tribute to the memory of Princess Diana and Prince Charles and his current wife, Camilla Parker. One is "Guide me, O thou great redeemer" (Guide me, oh great Redeemer) also known as the anthem of the Welsh Rugby Union that Prince William is vice president.
As an anecdote I can tell that the song also appears in the film John Ford's How Green Was My Valley, "though sung in Welsh ..." Guide me, O thou great redeemer "was also sung at the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997 and a church service to mark the tenth anniversary of his death , so it will be a nice memento for the memory of the late Diana.
"Love divine, all Loves Excelling" by Charles Wesley, is another famous hymn chosen by Kate and William. The novioshan also wanted to make a nod to Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, choosing the song "Blaenwern" of William Rowlands, who also has links with Wales and was played at the wedding of these in 2005.
The St. James's Palace spokesman said that both Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, were excited about the choice of boyfriends and grateful for that detail. We must remember that the Prince William admitted that Camilla had suffered much from the marriage of their parents, and that hurt him.
The final hymn is "Jerusalem" by William Blake, best known for the movie "Chariots of Fire", of great beauty and is a favorite of the couple.
