Wearing a black skirt during the morning assembly at his school near Cambridge (eastern England), Chris Whitehead, gave a speech to over 1,300 students, denouncing the "discrimination" against boys that is, under him, the internal regulations of the institution, says the Daily Telegraph. "In summer, girls can wear skirts, but the boys can not wear shorts.
We believe that this discriminates against boys, "he said, promising to keep his strange uniform" every day "until the law be amended. The students marched through the village along with a dozen comrades carrying banners. "I'm very proud," said his mother, Liz Whitehead. The main college in the village of Impington, Robert Campbell, said the school uniform was "consistent" with what most other English schools require.
"Chris is a very bright student ... I know he wants to play politics and he has clearly established principles, "he added.
